There's nothing in the peer reviewed literature that supports the MMCC debate. Further, from ice core samples, CO2 has no influence over temperature, it is in fact the other way round, temp affects CO2 with about a 250 year lag - Al Gore switched the graphs in his Inconvenient Truth ' lecture. Al Gore is a fraud, a known globalist following the 'agenda 30' protocols (that includes stopping farm land from growing food and grow bird food instead) to reduce food production. They're trying to return humanity to the dark ages, these people are satanic and insane. When was the last time we debated the entire ethos? It's never happened properly because their argument will be exposed as a fraud. The climate models are manufactured. And yes Tim it is actually possible for a small group to deceive the rest of us, just need the right players in key positions to be coerced to agree and/or stamp on any scientist who dares say otherwise (the scientific consensus in favour of MMCC is also faked btw, with 1000's of climatologists refuting the claims). We need to look into this. Quietly talk to a climatologist does climatic CO2 influence climatic temp yes or no..
Exactly, before you know it you have $75,000 into a $40,000 dollar car. You're better off buying the idiot's project after he's dumped $75.000 into it. With the $30,000/$35.000 you saved by doing that you can throw $10,000 or less into making the vehicle a color you enjoy if the aforementioned color isn't quite what you like. Trust me I'm that idiot who went down the shmee rabbit hole when I was in my 20s
it's a money pit because the point of a project car is you offset the cost by doing the work yourself. Shmee is unwilling to do this because he's not a car guy. He's just a consumer.
This might be the 914 that sparks the respect/love for these Porsches. Never loved these, but I love this project and the fact passion overrules the brains
Welcome to my world Tim with the EV. I currently run a Mustang Mach-E AWD which will quite happily get about 320 miles when it's nice and warm in the summer (as long as it's not too hot so you need the a/c on) and you drive carefully. However, come the depths of winter at it's coldest when you need the heater on and I've had the range down to 200 miles. Add to that the cost of fast charging on a long journey, the anxiety of hoping there's a vacant charge station at your planned stopover(s) and the fact that you can't just rock up at any petrol station, fill up and be on your way in minutes. It's fine for staying close to home where you can charge overnight at a reasonable cost, but we like going on driving holidays. Hence, we have a nice new BMW X1 M35i on order and will be driving it to Italy next summer, (I can't wait). Keep up the great work, I love watching your videos.
I owned a 1970 Porsche 914-6 back in the mid-1970s. It'd be sweet if Shmee dropped in a 911 engine and upgraded to larger brakes & 5-lug wheels to create a 914-6 instead of keeping the 4-cylinder/

The renewable sources for the electricity is word salad nonsense. All the electricity is bought and sold in the same market, there is no way of knowing where the actual electricity comes from unless there is a solar or wind farm directly attached to the charger.
What matters is the carbon intensity of the grid. Market mechanisms encourage more renewable energy overall. Some people like being off grid as a way of ensuring what moves the car came from a panel or turbine. To date that's typically not practical for commercial DC rapid charging. If the equivalent amount of renewables is added to the grid it has the same benefit of stopping emissions intensive generation. That's more important than feeling smug about what moved your car. When you donate to charity does your actual dollar buy the goat or pay Oxfam's overheads so there is someone to buy that goat?
So, electric car costs more to buy, more to recharge and run, gets crap economy, is limited where you can charge up and it takes lots longer to charge than a petrol/diesel car. The car will not have as long of a life span as a petrol/diesel car and yet we are all expected to switch to them by when??? Crazy.......
Not all electric cars and their supercharging or charging infrastructure are the same. This is a very cheap nice looking from the skin but if you look underneath this Chinese brand can’t hold a candle to say Tesla. And, a Tesla Model 3 or Y for example with their proven electric motors have thousands of less moving parts than any ICE vehicle to breakdown. There are many many documented Teslas that have driven over 1 million miles with only swapping out the battery pack once. My model Y requires no battery or motor maintenance and very minimal suspension, tires windshield wash break pad maintenance than any ICE vehicle. Again, NOT all EV’s are created equal.
But we’re helping to save the planet (apparently). Let’s hope the people in the know got their sums right or it will make the ‘let’s all swap to diesels because they’re better for the environment’ debacle seem like a very minor oversight 😮
So dont forget when you stop to charge you spend extra money on coffee/ food while waiting for the car to charge, this is a cost you can avoid by just fueling up in 5 minutes and driving back home
Love the colour. Neat nod to the 70s when these colours were normal. I remember these as a kid in the 70s with funky greens, reds and turquoise colours. A great project to follow. Also, huge respect for experimenting life with an EV. For every watt used, it saves a litre of Dino Juice for something special.
@shmee150 it is not 100% renewable energy if a charger is taking power from the grid… whatever contracts the provider might have in place. The Porsche looks amazing and can’t wait to see it on the road and in the garage!
Surely touching that screen trying to put the heaters on is so dangerous even when you have learned all the shortcuts 🤦♂️ oh maybe it’s a short cut to a major accident

Tim - it's so good that you're gripping up the 914. Especially with the chaps in Yorkshire. Aged 64 i was very aware of the 914 and it inhabited that strange penumbra between the achievable and the remote. My Mother nearly bought a 924 in the late 70s and i suppose that could too in its more unusual guise have ticked a similar box, but without the Californian connection. I suspect we are running very short of surviving 914s. Very excited about seeing the colour in action - that was a great choice. Living in Chelsea it would look very good parked at the back of the King's Road.
Really love this project and well the color, i got the feeling this is going to be a puppi150 car😅😅. But that is really bold, and some pink in the garage would be perfect

Rebuilding a classic is NEVER a disaster. It's just a slow process of restoration and fabrication of parts that need replacing... always with surprises as you have found out. To go along with Shmoo & friends... how about Pat the cow poo ... ?
Shmee150 Great Video I think it's awesome that your 914/4 2L will be Ruby Star and I can't wait to see it and I'm glad you Patches is coming along well
I came to my senses. Shmee no way no how is going to paint this anything but the original colour. Blue is his favorite too. Yeah, he had that ugly pink Lambo for a while. He's totally messing with us which seem out of character for him, but so would painting a vintage Porche pink. Phew, I feel better now.
Who has an extra half hour of time to waste each time their car needs a half change? Remember that as the car approaches 100% the charging slows down. Amazing. Try taking a trip in one.
It wasn’t extreme conditions though it is normal autumn heading into winter conditions, I’m sure for some people evs may work but not for a regular working guy
EVs are not the answer to any of the current "problems". It just isn't practical, too expensive, not at all foolproof in terms of what would happen if you're about to run out and the charging point is knackered, and the claims are too over hyped. I can't have a charging point at my house, so why would I park my car at a train station to charge it over night at extra expense. That makes no sense at all
I think the Shmee-neologisms (aka shmeologisms) are getting little bit out of hand... Soon Shmee will take Shmoo and Shmoorella for a ride in a car from the Shmuseum, maybe the ShmcLaren or a Shmercedes...
You nearly ran the BYD out of charge twice when it should have done the complete round trip. Also, the Australian security minister was involved in a scandal because he was driving a Chinese EV and these things monitor everything you do. The channel MGUY Australia has been warning about these things for ages, especially the risk of thermal runaway which would completely destroy your car collection. I wouldn’t touch that car with a barge pole unless BYD agreed to indemnify you against the loss of your collection caused by a thermal runaway in the battery. Sorry to sound so negative, but if you look at MGUY’s channel, you will see this happens quite often.
I remember that lipstick pink when it came out on the 968. Didn’t really care for it then, but to each their own. I hope the car will get some mechanical upgrades too.
HOLY CRAP!!!. that charge was EXPENSIVE. $38.97 GBP. i'm in Canada and that would be $68.29 CAD. That is total robbery. WAY more expensive than driving a gas car. NO THANK YOU!!
Funny Out of Spec just did a across America Multiple Electric Cars Vs A Gas Car that was Moderate to bad on Gas. With the Best the Electric cars had to offer it was still a 6 to 7 hour difference . So you have to deal with the stress of worrying about the Charge and the best of the Best High End Hi Tech Electric you still lose basically a day off your trip . Still not even close to being ready
Yep, for a major drive like that there's still a significant difference. Some of it is to do with the vehicles, some with the charging infrastructure. On the other hand, there's a significant amount of cars/drivers who basically never drive far from the home garage and can top-up on cheap overnight electricity 🔌 Depends very much on the use case and the criteria used for comparison ⚖️
I disagree that EVs are the future. Maybe for a limited time, but no way long term. Your video shows the shortfalls that would put most drivers off having one.
Batteries are going to get better as time goes on. Remember the brick mobile phones from the 90s as compared to now? They had large batteries but with way less power as compared to what we have now. In the next 20 years, we are going to see a huge leap in battery technology.
@@redauwg911 According to Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions, 239 fires recorded in the UK from July 2022 to June 2023 were linked to EVs. While this is an 83% increase year on year, it's important to note the number has increased along with the increasing presence of EVs on our roads.
EVs - cars are good enough to get us started on this transition i.e. for people tolerant of ok to good over perfect. UK roadtrip charging is a work in progress but charging at home is cheap. Your £45k Seal starts at £26k here in Australia and an MG4 starts at £16k. If charging were ubiquitous you would have charged in the hours at the workshop and no time would have been lost or less time if you still needed a top up. EVs need a different mindset rather than applying petrol thinking. This takes time. For example, why would your mates workshop bother installing a charger if only you turned up in a EV. If you visited a friend with an EV your charging for your return would be front of their mind as a host.
Thumbs up for that Porsche colour! 👍 Does this Seal have a heat pump (for cabin heating)?🌡️ We acknowledge combustion engined vehicles don't reach claimed fuel efficiency on motorway speeds either. At least mine no way nearly does 😂 Thanks for an interesting, multitopic and honest video 💖
My EV has 2 range values, one is based on it's theoretical range, one based on the economy you have been getting recently. The latter is lower and actually pretty accurate, within 10% say (and it's wrong probbaly because i tend to do journeys but it's been driven in town before)
After watching a multitude of videos from China showing these Seals catching fire in a snap, (From first wisp of smoke to full raging inferno in 6 seconds)....I must say you have a big pair to be riding one daily! Kudos.
Hi Tim I live in China and the BYD works better in a warmer climate. in winter or colder weather it's not advisable to take longer rides with electric cars
@Shmee150 my advice, while you’re using the EV over the next few weeks or months, is to think ‘ABC’ - ‘always be charging’. Don’t wait until you need to charge, charge whenever you can. So, on this trip, when you made a stop & said that’s where you intended to charge on your way home, charge there & then, even if it’s only for a 10 minute comfort break. The car is parked up during this break so ‘always be charging’. It’s a change of mindset but believe me it helps! 👍
That's the advice I preach to people as well, but when you're doing a mileage range test, you'd be defeating the purpose if you don't at least try to see how far it can go.
@ Do you do mileage range tests with all your cars & compare ‘real world’ MPG to that claimed by each manufacturer? Be good to compare how much further the cars can travel on a full tank, & how accurate the MPG results are, vs. this EV
As an American car guy,my view on the chinese EV situation.i think that they have a place in the marketplace.i think that the customer not the government should be the ultimate arbriter of what works. Now if you want to use hydrogen,BEV, ICE,hybrid or anything in between you should have the option.if i was a big manufacturer I'd offer all options but that would have some drawbacks like increased initial cost to at least me but the more i can use the tech, the cheaper it will be for the buyer to an extent
Porsche will look sweet in pink ❤ Most of not all of your cars would have nade that trip non-stop. Electric just isn't there yet, unless there is a big break through on range or charging. On the plus side electric cars cant tow (see Harrys Garage with him towing in the new electric Porsche) so there will be less caravans on the road 🤣
Ruby stone is probably the color based off of the hint. If I'm going for a brand specific color. But me I'd spec it in Guards red or Gentian Blue.but given the opportunity to spec a brand new Porsche.Gentian blue is on the short list, with a black and orange interior 😅😅
That is the reason why Elekro has no shrinkage! Not everyone has the time and inclination to be so dependent. I drive an Audi E-tron and can simply switch on the engine when I need to. Or charge my battery to 50% myself. It is specified with a purely electric range of 50 km... I've never done more than 35... Ridiculous!
The only reasonable electric car is a small, lightweight city car, with a small battery pack. These large, heavy family cars are just not working. I mean 200miles on a highway is a joke. It’s like if you were driving fuel tank of 70liters, with 21l/100 km consumption. I think the Purosangue would do a better mileage if you’re low key flooring it.

Rebuilding a classic is NEVER a disaster. It's just a slow process of restoration and fabrication of parts that need replacing... always with surprises as you have found out.
To go along with Shmoo & friends... how about Pat the cow poo ... ?
Great car, great story, the color… not my taste. Look forward to following this build.
Shmee150 Great Video I think it's awesome that your 914/4 2L will be Ruby Star and I can't wait to see it and I'm glad you Patches is coming along well
Porsche gang: comment
Lambo gang: like
I liked coz I am in love with both. 😂
Everyone else: god damnit Shmee, why you going with Barbie car?
@@timhouston1638 he might have a Barbie fantasy
@@mag22-b5b I may be F'd in the head or something, but after all that work......he's actually going to turn it into a Barbie car?
I came to my senses. Shmee no way no how is going to paint this anything but the original colour. Blue is his favorite too. Yeah, he had that ugly pink Lambo for a while. He's totally messing with us which seem out of character for him, but so would painting a vintage Porche pink. Phew, I feel better now.
Who has an extra half hour of time to waste each time their car needs a half change? Remember that as the car approaches 100% the charging slows down. Amazing. Try taking a trip in one.
Should we b expecting a little shmee💙💖
Well done with the 914 so far and I think the colour is going to be stunning on it. Then you could do a colab with Matt Armstrong and Ruby Star GT3.
That makes no sense at all
You're lucky you've got a man like Ryan and his colleagues on the job!
I think the Shmee-neologisms (aka shmeologisms) are getting little bit out of hand... Soon Shmee will take Shmoo and Shmoorella for a ride in a car from the Shmuseum, maybe the ShmcLaren or a Shmercedes...
Mad skills in that workshop, been following the rebuild, so much time, so much knowledge required, and his uploads are brilliantly edited,, very cool
This fire thing you are talking about is completely unrealistic.
n the UK, there were 239 electric vehicle (EV) fires recorded between July 2022 and June 2023, which is an 83% increase from the previous year.
I remember that lipstick pink when it came out on the 968. Didn’t really care for it then, but to each their own. I hope the car will get some mechanical upgrades too.
You picked the best Porsche color, by far! Great choice
Good to have you back in Europe, Tim. Always good to see "local" content.
his last 2 vids has been from Europe?
@pinto2303 correct, I prefer them to the US content, to be honest.
HOLY CRAP!!!. that charge was EXPENSIVE. $38.97 GBP. i'm in Canada and that would be $68.29 CAD. That is total robbery. WAY more expensive than driving a gas car. NO THANK YOU!!
I COULDN'T be happier with the choice, Shmee. Bang on. CHEERS FROM PA, USA
A very fun video, Tim. Thanks! We love the Shmoo the cow family.
Great to follow the 914 journey. Hope there will be something regarding the engine
Ruby stone is my favourite car colour 🩷, can’t wait to see what it looks like on patches.
@ batteries are not the problem, it’s the infrastructure
Excellent colour choice Tim. Now you need the matching 964RS to go with it! Perhaps with a Tuthill 4.0L! 😉
No one is going to be restoring a BYD in 50 years...
🎯 or 25 years
Thumbs up for that Porsche colour!
The latter is lower and actually pretty accurate, within 10% say (and it's wrong probbaly because i tend to do journeys but it's been driven in town before)
I get you probably did it for content, but there is zero chance I would take an EV on such a long journey if I had a V12 Ferrari FUV in the barn.
The Porsche is a wonderful project, extremely well executed!!
Just what today’s automotive environment needs!
Best wishes
That colour is gonna look epic!
A car manufacturer lied?! Never!
What a fun build! And crazy timing too. Been building one along side of yours!
Whatch out Starmer might tax that building if he finds out it has an agricultural history.
After watching a multitude of videos from China showing these Seals catching fire in a snap, (From first wisp of smoke to full raging inferno in 6 seconds)....I must say you have a big pair to be riding one daily! Kudos.
Been studying the Chinese EV world for years. BYD is the "last" Chinese car I would be in.
And charge it in the garage will the value of all the other cars he has
Had to be that colour. Fantastic choice Tim.
Love your color pick! Congrats Tim! It’s gonna look so stunning!
Bring
Your
Diesel
Waiting at the gas station for 30 minutes is something I can’t get behind
Enjoying the resto with YCR. As a bonus, enjoying Tim's "Children's TV Presenter" vibe
Well!!!!!! Tim I'm glad you didn't give up
For a classic car, I was advised to start with the best example I could find rather than try to rebuild a car.
Ruby stone is a gorgeous colour and one of my favorites from Porsche.
Ordered a SHMOORELLA today, a consequence of watching the video with my wife.
Pink with blue and red plaid interior? Interesting choice 😬
Porsche will look sweet in pink ❤
Most of not all of your cars would have nade that trip non-stop.
Ridiculous!
Great choice of color! Very bold and unique. Will fit the type and size of car very well!
Until an EV can charge at the same rate as my diesel fills up with liquid explosion, I’ll be sticking to the old stuff.. just a big con
The only reasonable electric car is a small, lightweight city car, with a small battery pack. These large, heavy family cars are just not working. I mean 200miles on a highway is a joke. It’s like if you were driving fuel tank of 70liters, with 21l/100 km consumption. I think the Purosangue would do a better mileage if you’re low key flooring it.
did not see that intro coming. what a legend 😂
Some cars just need to be let go, you can always make a car great again, but sometimes you just need to walk away. Matt Armstrong would have walked 🚗
